Family Trip to Disneyland

Saturday 3rd May 2008

5 Stars

One of the most favourite trips I have taken was with my family & grandchildren to Disneyland in California.
We flew into John Wayne Airport, it was the closest to Disneyland, and we had a van-shuttle bus from the airport to the Dolphin Cove in Anaheim.
We had 8 days of fun in Disneyland & California Adventure - the park across from the entrance to Disneyland. Today, the park is one of America’s most famous attractions and undoubtedly California’s most visited theme park.
We saw eight ‘lands’ in total: Main Street USA, the town center of Disneyland with its shops and clothing stores, Tomorrowland with its ride to look into the future, Frontierland, Fantasyland, Adventureland, Critter Country, Mickey’s Toontown and New Orleans Square. Some of the most popular rides are the Haunted Mansion, Space Mountain and Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters.
There are also regular shows featuring such favourites as Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck and Goofy. I found out that Walt Disney first conceived the idea for the park in 1948 and had originally intended to call it Mickey Mouse Park. Disneyland welcomed its first guests in 1955 and celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2005.

The highlight of our trip was particular night out in Disneyland at Orange County's famous Caribbean pirates. A new breed of pirate is about to set sail in Southern California. Bringing local citizens and visitors a high seas adventure, the likes of which hasn't been seen on the West Coast since Privateer Captain Hippolyte Bouchard set fire to Monterey, raided Santa Barbara and pillaged Mission San Juan Capistrano in 1818. The evening got off to a great start and continued with the swashbuckling, side-splitting, musical Pirate's Dinner Adventure Spectacular! This Broadway-quality show was presented on an enormous, fully-rigged pirate’s galleon. The elaborate set provides the backdrop for action, romance, and comedy.
You, along with the beautiful Princess Anita and her court, are hostages of a band of pirates led by the dastardly Sebastian the Black who will stop at nothing to plunder, pillage, and rob. Hang on, because there are rough seas ahead. We had a wonderful evening and my grandchildren were in total awe of the characters!
The Pirates dinner was only $49.00 for adults and $34.00 for children aged 3-11yrs old and worth every penny.

With plenty to do for all age groups Disneyland was perfect for my family including my grandchildren who cannot wait to return.
