Las vegas (revisted) The wynn

This is a different type of report as it was a work trip and in all we visited 16 hotels and walked an average of seven miles a day!

We flew business class from Heathrow with BA which was an amazing experience as it the first time I have experienced flat beds. It is also the first time I have looked forward to a flight - the staff can’t do enough for you and I can see why it is worth the price to do this if you can. From the moment we got on the plane we were pampered; given champagne and had amazing food. We had scallops (my favourites) for starters and I was in heaven.

At Las Vegas the security was quick (and friendly) and then we were whisked to our hotel for the next four nights. The Wynn is a fabulous hotel and one of the most elegant in Las Vegas. My room type was the Deluxe panoramic overlooking the golf course on the 58th floor with two double beds. The room is 640 square feet and there are buttons for everything so a little bit techie with bedside touch screen. The main feature is the floor to ceiling windows which give you an amazing view over the hotels private golf course. There are Molton Brown products in the bathroom and loads of towels and the bed was so comfortable. I wish I could have spent more time in it but we had a pretty loaded itinerary!

The hotel is a little bit smarter than other hotels I have been to on the strip. When we arrived we were told that Bruno Mars, Lady Gaga, Sylvester Stallone, Usher and Tony Bennett were dining at the hotel. We waited in anticipation but they didn't pass by.

The hotel is full of beautiful quirky modern art worth millions and is really beautiful with a carousel and hot air balloon made of flowers greeting you as you arrive with Chanel, Dior, Prada and Cartier shops (though we never saw anyone in them). There is the fashion mall across the road which had amazing shopping – Las Vegas is a girl’s paradise for shopping! I consequently finished my Christmas shopping when I had the opportunity on my last day. We did not have the resort fee added to our room which is $29 per night per room and includes free internet plus local calls and also gym use twice a day which is paid locally.

'The buffet' at the hotel is very classy 'as buffets go' with 15 food stations. We didn't try the fine dining but did sample the Society café which had American classics like burgers and fish and chips before we headed to the 'La Reve' show. This show takes place in an aqua theatre with synchronised swimming, high diving and aqua theatre. It was a pretty amazing show and nothing like you will see again it is so unique and spectacular.

If you want something more traditional Michael Monge is a lounge singer at The Wynn who performs at the Eastside lounge at the Encore. He does a lot of Sinatra songs and has a three piece band to keep you entertained with a cocktail (the Singapore slings are potent)!

The location of the hotel is right in the centre of the strip next door to The Venetian and over the road from the Fashion Mall (a great place for shopping!)

So my overall impression was a lovely classy hotel with beautiful artworks about and very tasteful.
