Enchanting Egypt!

I had always dreamed about visiting Egypt from as long as I can remember so when I was taken there for my birthday as a surprise - I certainly wasn't disappointed.

We arrived into Cairo at 3am to be met by our guide and transferred to our hotel - the Mena House, the streets were busy with people milling around and you would have thought it was the middle of the day, not the night! Our room was a pyramid view room and as it was so dark, we had to take the porters word for it. It was only when the sun came up that we could see the great Pyramids of Giza - they were so close you felt as if you could touch them. We spent 3 nights in Cairo and whilst there visited the Egyptian Museum. I could have spent a week there, it was so interesting, there is a whole room dedicated to Tutankhamen along with a room of mummies - very spooky. We also went inside the largest of the 3 pyramids - no mean feat when you are claustrophobic, but I knew I would regret it if I didn't go inside.

We then flew down to Luxor for a 2 night stay at the Movenpick Jolie Ville hotel; a lovely hotel out of the centre of Luxor, but near enough to get the hotel's courtesy bus into the centre to visit the many sights Luxor has to offer, including the Luxor and Karnak Temples, the Valley of the Kings and Queens.

Then we had a fantastic 4 night cruise on board the Oberoi Phillae boat from Luxor to Aswan. The boat is lovely, very authentic, it had a feel of the boat they used on 'Death on the Nile'. I can honestly say that I can't wait to return - Egypt is full of lovely surprises and from my experience one not to be missed...
