PERUVIAN SECRETS

South America is a truly amazing place to visit, so when I got the chance to visit Peru I was over the moon.

My trip started in Lima, the capital city of Peru, cosmopolitan and vibrant with a beautiful and historical center that boasts exquisite buildings dating back to colonial times. I stayed at the Miraflores Park, an orient express hotel, which enjoys a privileged location overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The city boasts a wide range of national and international restaurants and bars widely regarded as some of the best in South America.

Next was the stunning Lake Titicaca, the highest lake in the world, and visit to the floating islands of Uros where the inhabitants still live as they did centuries ago, on floating islands they make with totora reeds.

Finally a trip down the Amazon on a luxury river cruise with Aqua Expeditions, exploring the highlights of the Amazon Jungle and its wildlife.

I know you will fall in love with Peru, its people and its cultures, just like I have. You can sample a “Pisco Sour" - a typical aperitif made from a grape brandy, lemon juice, egg white and syrup, it’s a very strong alcoholic local drink. Try the traditional dish of “Cebiche" - raw fish marinated in lemon juice... but fantastically delicious!
