Our stop in Stalis

We picked up a car at the airport and stayed in a lovely family-run hotel in Stalis called Anastasia which was perfect for what we were looking for.

The hotel was spotlessly clean and maintained and I can honestly say that the service was some of the best I have experienced - ever! The hotel Manager, Michalis, never seemed to leave. He seemed to know everyone and was always on hand to help with any questions. Every staff member was happy to help and they were always smiling!

Our room was spacious and spotless with a great balcony overlooking the mini golf course and with a sea view. It was easy to relax around the pool with comfortable sun loungers and the bar was close by. There was also a large screen TV that showed all the football matches - so my son was more than happy!

We really enjoyed the food and there was entertainment each night from the wonderful Emma who did a great job of keeping everyone entertained. The hotel was ideally located only a five minute walk to the beach, bars, shops and restaurants.

We used the car to explore this part of Crete and highlights included Agios Nikolaos, Eloundra and Lasithi. We also took the boat out to Spinalonga - a former Leper Colony well worth a visit.

I can honestly say it felt like staying with family rather than being in a hotel. Everyone seemed to know everyone and get along so well and we were really sad to leave!
