Relax...Rebalance...Re-energise

Sarah Graham on 13 September 2022
As a solo traveller, I know how daunting it can feel to contemplate travelling alone which is why I decided to host a small group trip to BodyHoliday in St Lucia last September.

The aim was to help everyone to relax, rebalance and re-energise with a chance to connect with fellow solo travellers in a luxurious Caribbean setting.

BodyHoliday is the world's foremost Wellness Resort, offering a tailored approach to wellness and rejuvenation, located on a pristine crescent beach surrounded by lush tropical gardens.

I was on hand before and during the trip to make sure everything went smoothly and that there was always a friendly face as and when needed. I introduced everyone over a zoom catch up where I answered questions and shared lots of info about the resort and our trip. I shared details of the spa treatments, dining and activities and then scheduled everything anyone wanted to book before we even arrived.

September at BodyHoliday is the perfect time for solo travellers with a host of activities specifically designed to bring people together. We joined like-minded solo travellers for hosted cocktail parties and a sunset cruise. What’s more everyone had their own room – with negotiated exclusive rates - with no single supplement.

One of the things I love about BodyHoliday is that everything is included – great food, free-flowing drinks, lots of activities plus a 50-minute spa treatment – every day! Everyone is encouraged to do as much – or as little – as they want.

We all travelled together from Gatwick to St Lucia and took the helicopter transfer from the airport to Castries followed by a car transfer to the resort – and it was amazing! Before we knew it, we were all settled into our own rooms before meeting up in the piano bar for pre-dinner drinks.

Over the week everyone established their own routine and had the option to dine together, with others or join the hotel-hosted group to meet other guests.

I love the fact you can join in or take time out with no pressure to move from your sun lounger if you’re comfy!

For those looking to keep fit and push themselves, there was a seemingly endless array of daily activities including HIT boot camp, spin classes, hikes, cycling and open water swimming - to mention but a few options. Also included are water sports including water skiing, hobie cats and paddle boarding.

One of our group joined the early morning Tai Chi classes, another loved the mid-morning aquafit classes and a couple tried their hand at the water-skiing lessons. I opted for the meditation and candle-gazing, but it was fun to watch the HIT boot camp on the beach each morning as I relaxed over my breakfast!

The spa is awesome! Voted one of the world’s best destination spas by Conde Nast Traveller, it’s a focal point of the resort and a comprehensive centre of health and well-being. We could choose from a comprehensive menu of face and body treatments. My personal favourite was the aloe body wrap after a little too much sun one day.

We soon settled into our daily routine…breakfast at leisure whenever it suited followed by doing whatever we wanted! One of the group settled in his usual spot under a tree, another read at the end of the beach and others joined in some of the activities. Lunch could be a healthy bento box from the juice bar, a selection from the buffet or pizza and fries and afternoon tea. At 4 o’clock we headed up to the spa for our treatments and, after a wonderful pamper, we all met up at the beach bar to watch the sun set with a cool drink.

There was no shortage of options for dinner with main dining and speciality restaurants to choose from. During our stay there were also beach barbeques and themed nights too. We ran out of time to try The I-TAL restaurant which offers an amazing farm-to-table experience from its organic garden located amongst the trees on top of a beautiful hillside. At least that gives us a reason to return….

A highlight of our stay was a snorkelling trip to the Pitons and highly recommended. We got to see more of the beautiful island of St Lucia form above and below the sea.

This was my first escorted group and I loved every minute of it. I met the most amazing people and it was a truly life-changing trip.

It worked so well that I decided that this will now be an annual event. My ultimate goal is to create a community of like-minded people wanting to travel and explore the world – and maybe themselves!

Every single person that came on the trip has rebooked to join me again this September and we can’t wait!

I have negotiated exclusive rates again for this year with no single supplement and if you would like to join like-minded solo travellers, both young and old, male and female in September ‘23 please let me know – but hurry as very limited availability.

I am also taking registrations for our September ’24 trip.

I invite you to explore, discover and gain insights that will last a lifetime.

Why not join us and see why the BodyHoliday mantra is…..Give us your body for a week, and we'll give you back your mind.
