Dominican Repubic with Palladium Hotel Group

Serena Jesson on 03 December 2019
I was really lucky to be taken on a fam trip with the fabulous Palladium resorts. Although I've booked lots of Dominican Republic holidays for my clients I had never actually been myself and with it becoming an increasingly popular destination, I was really looking forward to go and see what it was all about and excited to be spending time at some gorgeous resorts. It was a busy seven days so I thought the best way to share it with you all would be with a day by day blog.

DAY 1

It was a pleasant but chilly BA flight. For anyone travelling UK winter time I would recommend layering up so you can keep warm on the flight then loose some layers when you get off the plane and step into the Caribbean heat.

It was a 10 minute coach journey to our first hotel- the gorgeous adult-only TRS Cap Cana where we were greeted with a lovely welcome drink and a quick and easy check in. I was wowed from the moment I stepped in and was instantly excited to spend the next couple of days exploring the resort. My suite was gorgeous and spacious with lots of nice in room touches and butler service for the duration. I absolutely loved my huge balcony with an amazing view of the sea and resort.

DAY 2

We woke up to a storm but in true Caribbean style the clouds soon parted, the rain disappeared and the sun was out. We started the morning with a beautiful breakfast setting with buffet breakfast or a la carte (or both) and a live violinist to set the atmosphere.

After viewing some suites, a lovely coffee shop, the gorgeous spa and the all-important bar we then took a taxi down to the local beach, before heading back for lunch which was an al fresco four course Italian seafood feast with a gorgeous view. Following lunch was pool/beach time with the option to relax on a sun lounger or Bali bed or we could opt into activities such as aerobics or a water spin class. I decided on a fun gin cocktail making class.

Dinner was at El Gaucho, a lovely setting with a menu that included so many of my favourites. I went for the lobster accompanied with some delicious white wine. I was so impressed with our first dinner and it was the perfect end to our first full day.

DAY 3

It was time to say farewell to TRS Cap Cana to head to Santa Domingo. Who knew Dominican had such a gorgeous and interesting city. We spent a few hours with the Dominican tourist board in the colonial city, we were taken to some of the historical city sites then to a 4D cinema recreation of the battle of Santa Domingo. We then spent some time wandering the cobbled streets and mingling with the locals before heading to Jalao-one the local restaurants for a Dominican feast. We stayed at Dominican Fiesta hotel and casino-perfect place to stop for a couple of nights to explore the city.

DAY 4

After a delicious poolside breakfast at Fiesta Domingo we left to check into our final hotel, the gorgeous Grand Palladium Palace. Upon arrival we had an all singing and dancing welcome that instantly made us feel at home and exited for the rest of the trip. After check in was some time by the pool to enjoy cocktails and a bit of sunbathing and some free time to explore the resort. Dinner was at Sumpturi, a fun Teppanyaki restaurant with live cooking shows and mouth-watering Japanese cuisine. After dinner some of us headed for the Sunset Boulevard night club before heading to bed.

DAY 5

We spent some time getting to know the pools, bars, rooms and restaurants at -Grand Palladium Palace -Grand Palladium Bavaro -Grand Palladium Punta -TRS Terquesa

After a busy day doing a fun, crazy treasure hunt I had the most amazing and much needed massage and spa circuit at Zentropia. There are so many treatments to choose from and then you can chill out at the spas pool and jacuzzi. The evening was a dinner and a show at Chic Cabaret, fabulous atmosphere and the food was fab- I enjoyed all seven courses. As for the acts, they we’re just spectacular. This is an absolute must do and I can’t recommend it enough!

DAY 6

A trip over to Catalina Island by Speedboat. We arrived to gorgeous white sand beach, with friendly locals and a picture perfect setting. Lunch was buffet style and included fresh lobster and wine. Once we got back it was time for yet more food and drink. We started the evening with pre dinner cocktails with a lovely setting at Bar Hemingway before heading for dinner at Bhogali, the Indian restaurant with a great atmosphere and fine culinary experience. Following dinner we ended the night at the secret pool for a dip and a night cap.

DAY 7

A lovely chilled out days, relaxing by the pool and working my way through the cocktails list (all in the name of research of course). Dinner was Tapas and wine tasting at First wine, another great and unique dining experience with fabulous service throughout. We were served lots of tapas style dishes accompanied with the best wines. The evening was just wow! A fabulous evening of drinks, top notch entertainment and a non-stop party at Coco Bongo Punta Cana. I would highly recommend this to anyone. It was the perfect way to end a perfect trip.

TRS CAP CANA- I would recommend this hotel for adults that are celebrating a special occasion or who would just like to treat themselves to a pure luxury holiday with unbeatable service and experiences

DOINICAN FIESTA- I would recommend this hotel for those who would like a base to explore the city, this is perfect to twin centre with a beach stay.

GRAND PALLADIUM PALACE- I would recommend to couples, groups and families. There is a great range of entertainment and activities and something for everyone Perfect for foodies who love fine dining experiences.
