Two days in Monte Carlo

What a 48 hours we had in Monte Carlo. With a grand casino, luxury shopping, a glamorous marina filled with yachts and supercars at every corner this place certainly has wow factor!

We stayed at the Fairmont hotel in a superior room with a view of the famous hairpin on the formula one racetrack. The hotel was a perfect location within walking distance to the marina, Monte Carlo casino and plenty of shops and nightlife.

The first day we arrived we headed straight down to the marina for a coffee with a spectacular view. We then headed back to the roof top of our hotel, home to the famous Nikki Beach club. We spent a few hours here, relaxing, listening to music and enjoying the great selection of food and drink on offer. The atmosphere was buzzing and if we had more time, we would have stayed for the evening and enjoyed sunset cocktails and a dance to the live music.

Our next stop was still within our hotel and being a massive foodie, it was definitely one of the highlights for me. We arrived at NOBU around 6pm (just in time for happy hour). We were seated on the gorgeous terrace overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. The cuisine was a mix of Japanese and South American, I opted for a mouth-watering seafood dish for my main and a gorgeous chocolate box dessert which was honestly one of the nicest things I've ever had the pleasure of eating.

The next highlight of our trip was the famous Monte Carlo casino, just a seventeen-euro entrance fee which included your first drink-great value we thought! The casino itself is just as grand as it looks in the Bond movies. We of course had a flutter but unfortunately no big wins for us on the day.

After such a busy first day, the second day was a bit more laid back and we spent the morning enjoying our hotel and, in the afternoon, we took a stroll around to take it all in. We visited some of the luxury boutiques, for those who like shopping Monte Carlo has it all!

Monte Carlo is like nowhere else I've ever been, and I would highly recommend it for couples and groups. It's a great place for a short break and I would also recommend tying it in with other areas on the French Riviera eg. Nice, Cannes, St Tropez
